Welcome back, friends! Today's post is about giving magical gifts! Simple gifts that nurturer your child’s and your own imagination will play a much more integral role in their and your life. Not only are you giving away valuable life tools, but you are also fostering healthy and fun behaviors and you are setting yourself up for a year filled with magic! Here are my recommendations for magical holiday gifts (that won't cost much money!)
1.) Spoil the children and the adults in your life with brand new boxes of colorful crayons, markers and/or paints. No matter the age, these simple gifts inspire creativity and magic!
2.) A can of chalkboard paint can transform the mundane into magical in minutes! Turn a boring white wall into a wall of endless possibilities. You can also tint the paint to make it a brighter color. If painting a wall isn't possible, try painting old furniture or even a small lap tray.
3.) Make bright and colorful scarves or blankets for forts, capes and instant moodchangers! I bought some cotton crepe and reinforced the edges to make my very own scarves! (You can also buy scarves inexpensively online). Adults need bright and playful colors, too, so give a wide homemade scarf or a soft blanket.
4.) Handmade and homemade gifts! I am crafty and I do love to give personalized handmade gifts.
5.) But be sure to keep gift giving simple and from the heart. My time and resources are very limited these days, so handmade gifts aren't always possible. This doesn't mean that I can't give away my magic and my love! A simple handwritten card with a picture or a few words from the heart means much more than a gift ever could.
6.) Give an heirloom or give away one of your valued possessions. (No, you don't have to give Aunt Dee Dee's diamonds out to your neighbors.) Pick a possession that the recipient will find special and give it to them with all the love in your heart. For example, my favorite gift came from my Muriel. Muriel took care of me from the time I was a baby until I was 18-years-old. One year, she gave me the fairy tale books that she used to read to me. I couldn't have received a more special or perfect present! I still treasure the books and also the memories that went along with those books!
The best gift that you can give is to share your own magic and love with your loved ones! It is the season of giving, not spending, and this world desperately needs your gifts! Love to you all! Xx
