On Wednesday the temperature here in the forest was 101°F. It was a blistery hot and humid summer morning to say the least! And on this particular day, I had to write a winter tale for my new collection of stories. So, I transformed the enchanted writing shed into a snowy dream!
The magic of fairy lights & twinkling bells transported me into a frosty wonderland!
Creating your own magical world is a simple way to lift your spirits, inspire your imagination and boost your energy! You don't need money, fancy things or a decorator to live in an inspiring environment, you only need a playful imagination!
Changing how you feel about your surroundings is simple! Just by renaming your workspace or environment, you alter your own reality and your feelings towards this reality. Which location would inspire you to create magical tales-- "the enchanted writing shed" or "the old smelly desk squeezed into the bedroom?"
You can also clear or cover your space and redecorate. This is what I did on Wednesday with simple cotton curtains (and leftover curtain fabric), fairy lights and a pair of old wind chimes:
Transforming the world around you offers an instant escape from feelings or problems! For instance, after a particularly bad day, I transformed our bedroom into a scary hollow so that we could tell creepy-deepy tales after dark. With only an old blanket and a few candles, I created a magical moment that allowed us to imagine, laugh and let go!
What happens if you are not home and you need a little magic? It is difficult feeling magical whilst working nine hours in a cubicle. Simply cover your space with a colorful scarf, add seashells or stones, and listen to nature sounds or happy tones through headphones. If none of this is possible, all you have to do is close your eyes, take some deep breaths and allow your imagination to transport you to a happy and magical place!
I think you will be surprised at how easy and beneficial living in a magical world actually is! Let yourself be playful, and as always, be magical!
P.S. When I finished writing in my enchanted wintry shed, a rainstorm blew through the forest and cooled everything off! The pup and I took our daily walk through the breezy trees where we met a mama and baby porcupine munching on wild thyme! Talk about living in a magical world!
