Hello, friends! I hope everyone had a bright and happy holiday however it was celebrated! Here in the enchanted tree house, we had a simple day filled with giggles, games and delicious leafy greens!
Whilst I was grateful to enjoy a quiet Christmas with my love and our three magical fur beasts, my mind was already focusing on 2013. You see, I believe that each one of us holds the power to create the kind of year we desire with our thoughts and actions. So around the last week of December, I do a great deal of reflecting on the previous year and dreaming for the upcoming year.
For 2012, I wrote, Five ways to start off your magical year and for 2013, I would like to share with you another way to ensure that our upcoming year is the most magical and brilliant year to date! I promise this exercise works, for many of you know, my love and I have been pulling ourselves out of a series of situations that left us completely demoralized (not to mention impoverished and faced with years of hardship). But with tragedy comes valuable lessons and experiences. And today, our magical lives serve as evidence that absolutely anything is possible as long as you keep moving onwards and upwards, so let's get started!
Emmy Blue's Onwards and Upwards Exercise
Step One: Reflections, Gratitude and Release
Awareness is key to removing any blocks and to moving forward into a happier, healthier and more magical life! Therefore, I spend a good deal of time reviewing and reflecting on the year. I think, I write, I talk, I think some more, I paint, I write some more, I may cry, I may laugh, I may sit in the forest alone, I may run up mountains, I may meditate, I may sleep...I do whatever it takes to really reflect on the lessons that I learned, the distances I went and the distances I didn't go, the things that I loved and the things that were just plain yuck.
With honest reflection comes awareness.
With this magical gift of awareness, I see my transformations and express gratitude for all of the incredible things that happened this year. With this magical gift of awareness, I also pinpoint why other things may not have happened or gone as well as I hoped. Pinpointing blocks or issues is key to letting go of unwanted feelings (mainly fears and pains), memories, and behaviors in order to move forward. (If you need help doing this, then now is the perfect time to accept help.)
With awareness comes positive change.
Next, I express gratitude as well as practice some release or letting go exercises. I mentioned one these exercises in this previous blog post if you are interested. A second simple exercise that my brilliant mentor and dear friend Petrene taught me is to lie down and repeat, "I'm letting go of all I no longer need." Sometimes it helps to use your own warm, healing hands to rub your stomach or any other part of your body holding something needing released. You will feel your magical body letting go. (It sounds simple because it is simple.)

Now take a deep breath and say GOODBYE to 2012 and WELCOME to 2013! Repeat to yourself, "2013 is the most magical and brilliant year to date!"
Step two: Dreaming BIG
Take some time to dream up your big, brilliant year! Make lists, artwork and write fantastic stories about your 2013! Do whatever it takes to see a clear picture of what experiences you want, of how you want to feel as well as all of your wildest dreams and goals. Absolutely anything is possible when you believe!
I don't set resolutions nor do I expect myself to exude perfect goal acheiving behavior starting January 1st. Instead, I regularly repeat positive affirmations that support me on the journey towards my yearly goals and dreams.
And remember: Journeys are filled with ups, downs, sideways-s, insides, outs, spins and spirals, but they also lead to happy surprises and magical outcomes!
Keep your lists of wild dreams and goals in sight. Hang them on a wall! Sleep with them beneath your pillow! Sing them to your favorite fur beasts! Just make sure you continue to look at your dreams, feel how happy they are and start taking the teeniest tiniest steps towards them every week. Anytime you begin worrying or feeling negative and hopeless, blast it all away with positive affirmations and visions of bright sunshine. And don't be afraid to accept help if you need it, this is your life to live!
May you surprise yourself in 2013 with how easy and effective this exercise truly is!
